  • Blog back online

I’ve imported the most recent backup I could find and got a majority of the posts back online for the blog.

Please give me time to go through and fixing any posts with images, and to move other’s which may no longer be relevant.

Using WordPress once more, because it was easier. Would love to move to a static site generator at some point. But WordPress will do the job just fine.

  • Good website for new home builders

I was watching a recorded program and just happened to capture a look at an interesting advert. I wouldn’t normal watch them, typically skip them. But it got my attention and even made me laugh.

Basically its a website with major builders and house designs. So you can quickly compare them based on features, at which point when you narrow it down you could go to a Display Village to check them out. Rather than doing it all at first at the Display Village (multiple times) and lots of walking.

Awesome concept I thought and website seems quite good too.

    Check it out at ibuildnew.com.au

I got a copy of the commercial off my recording and uploaded to youtube if you’d like to see it.

  • Hackpad – a site to watch

I remember seeing someone on twitter mention Hackpad and I meant to sign up and look at it further. Got side tracked, never happened.

    Saw it mentioned again today and signed up. So glad I did, as I was in the middle of researching for setting up a private wiki for a lot of stuff I like to keep track off. Some of the content will merge into other sources as it gets to a point where it can be shared to wider audiences. I’ve used these wiki’s below in the past;

    • MediaWiki
    • Confluence
    • Dokuwiki

However, each has its pros and cons. I won’t go into detail on pros and cons for each, as they might be different to different people.

So glad I checked out Hackpad, as it suits what I need perfectly, and I can see you can do exports into html, markdown and plaintext. See the graphic below to see what I mean. When you select html, it sends you an email with the download link.

Unfortunately my content cannot be seen by the public, as it’s a private site. I recommend if your interested in playing around with Hackpad. You should go sign up.

  • Website now running on a Exigent VPS service

I’ve moved the website to an Exigent VPS host, as I was having a few issues hosting one of my vhosts that is a mediawiki installation. I stood up all the services on my new VPS server and subsequently moved all hosting over to that VPS host.

Website should remain fairly stable/static for the now, as I am not planning any major changes for a few months if any.
