quick follow-up CAVEAT for those who copy'n'paste CLI commands from websites..

It appears as if this site's blog software is displaying/substituting the original double-hyphens which I used (as per the man pages) for single en-dashes or some suchlike character.

You should use double hyphens where appropriate.

HTH. :o)

Just to say a BIG THANKS. :o)

Aiming to get the latest Fedora 9 DVD iso -- 3.3GB over 56k dialup, sigh, (yes I know, I know, but anyway..) -- so it'll be over many days, largely unattended, but my router cheerfully reconnects automatically so a robust & reliable downloader was/is/will be the final component.

Neither Tiger 10.4.9's curl nor the previous pre-compiled binary (wget v 1.9) I'd found for Panther 10.3 would retry/resume/continue properly ... despite trialling various options and values, that version of wget always aborted with messages about xmalloc and ptr null Failed Assertions ... and though curl's retry did indeed kick in again successfully after the connection drops/resumes it stupidly re-downloads the SAME 35MB chunk as before the break, each and every time! Doh!

In initial tests, your wget 1.10 seems to be working as intended. Yay!!! :D

For reference, the two commands I'd settled on (but path-details abstracted) :

1] - CURL (which stupidly failed..)

curl -C - --retry 1000 --retry-delay 20 --speed-limit 1 --speed-time 30
--output /Volumes/path/to/save/file/Linux/Fedora-9-i386-DVD.iso
"ftp://ftp.blah.blah.blah.url.to.file.server/blah/blah/blah/iso/Fedora-9-i386-DVD.iso"

2] - WGET (seems to be working with your v 1.10.2 above)

/usr/local/bin/wget -c --tries=inf --retry-connrefused --waitretry=180
--connect-timeout=10 --read-timeout=30 --passive-ftp
--output-document=/Volumes/path/to/save/file/Linux/Fedora-9-i386-DVD.iso
"ftp://ftp.blah.blah.blah.url.to.file.server/blah/blah/blah/iso/Fedora-9-i386-DVD.iso"

So yes, just a big "thank you" so far.. :o)

Now, fingers crossed for a fortnight LOL ;D

PS3 to TV works fine via HDMI and the digital audio lead to amp works great too..

DVD playback on the ps3 is great, as upscaling done is really good.

Thumbs up.

Yes, I've read about this. I'll do a google in the morning to confirm it does. I am fairly sure it will. But I better check before I go and buy a hdmi cable for it. I could test it, but my hdmi cable is in use currently and wired into the amp which is hard to access.

Hopefully your TV can do HDCP as well as HDMI, otherwise (as a friend of mine has just found out) you get a whole lot of nothing.. :-(

I don't think I will be doing any sort of that hacking on the unit just yet.
Although GTA IV is pretty damn good, and fun too.
