Checked up on house progress yesterday morning, my wife managed to get the following pictures. It appears our garage door was fitted. It looks quite good too. Unfortunately our front door has been delayed so it won’t be on until maybe next week. In the meantime they have fitted something different for the moment.

EDIT: And a photo taken late today. Shows the temporary front door. Like I said the one we have selected won’t be in for a few more days yet.

My wife went past house today and just as she was leaving some workers turned up to start doing some further work.
As you will see on the pics below, painter painted alot more of the front. And we don’t know why he didn’t do the columns. And you’ll also see the cavity slide doors have had gyprock attached.

Went out to house site yesterday to confirm what has been done. The waterproofing in the wet areas has been completed and it appears the other trades person my wife saw on Friday must of been the cornices fellow. The cornices have been completed and they look really good. The house is coming along nicely.
We also managed to go shopping with a friend who knows more about audio then we do and managed to find a place who would demo the amp we wanted with the speakers we wanted. The unit sounded great, and the price was good too. So we put a deposit down and managed to get free delivery too. Just need to give the fellow 2 weeks notice to get it in stock and then of course go pay him the outstanding amount.
Below is a few pictures showing the cornices in various rooms, of course each one can be clicked for a better look.

Had a look at the new iMac yesterday. Would have to say I like it. I also managed to have a look at the new USB keyboard too. I like that also. Couldn’t get one on the spot as they had no stock. So my wife ordered one from Apple Online Store while she ordered something else for herself.
Hopefully the new keyboard should arrive on Monday. It’s just lucky that I needed a new keyboard, as the Apple Bluetooth one I had on my MacMini died.

I went out to the house lastnight on my way home from work and can confirm we do indeed have internal stairs now. They look good and make a difference. Now we don’t need a ladder to go upstairs to check on things. Although now that has been done it’s not long now until the house goes into the lock up stage.
While we were onsite my mate and I put the hole on the correct side of the wall where the alarm
control box will go, we then did what we needed to pull through the various 32 cable runs. Then counted to make sure we had them all. Then taped them up in a nice coil. Hopefully now they should stay in place and not get pushed back in wall or anything like that. Painter just needs to paint around them (and lift them out of the way using something so they can paint behind it).
Finally the house is taken shape, I’ll post up some pictures, as I believe my wife should of got some earlier today.
Of course once we move in, then I need to go around and dig out all the other cables we put in place. ie. extra phone points and data cables in the various rooms. Oh that will be fun, not.
EDIT: And as promised some photos. Click for larger size.

We are lead to believe from Electrician that the internal stairs should be installed in the house today. They were being delivered and installed.
I hope to go past tonight to confirm this did happen, as well as check that the alarm cables for the control board have been pulled back through the correct side of the wall, since it wasn’t performed as I advised. I did tell them not to pull anything through and leave in wall cavity. However found out later that day they pulled them through, but the wrong side. So advised site manager it has to be pulled through the other side (and much higher up).
Will check tonight we have internal stairs installed, and then confirm the alarm cable runs have been corrected (not to mention check all of the cable runs have been pulled through, and none left behind in the wall).

To say I am somewhat annoyed would be an understatement. Just checked the mail and you wouldn’t believe it, but Elamond Homes have sent us a letter for another 3 day extension for 3 day’s last week. Those day’s are; 14/08/07, 16/08/07 and 17/08/07.
What’s more annoying is that on these days in question I don’t recall any rain being about, not to mention the fact when we queried them on the Sunday about what was going to happen that week, they only gave us some information 2 day’s later.
At this rate of course they will finish in contract period, cause they keep bloody extending it at every chance they have. As far as I was informed last week, only the gyprock was happening, and that started Friday (17/08) and took place, yet according to this letter they wish to claim it as an extensions day due to weather? So maybe they expected some other work to take place but couldn’t happen cause of weather? I say bullshit.
I know for a fact it didn’t rain Friday as I was on a rostered day off so I called into the house site twice. Of course gyprock was going up and no rain fell.

Been waiting to watch “Transformers” for a while now, so I thought I’d sit down and finally do it. All I can say is that it was awesome. I think I’ll have to buy a copy when it’s available on DVD or something similar.
The story was good and the special effects totally cool. Highly recommend it.

Today was extremely busy at work. On weekends we typically have 2 people. Typically a Senior Engineer and an Engineer. But today we had 2 Senior Engineers, as I swapped my weekend last week as something came up. It’s probably just as well as we were extremely busy.
We had 4 Severity 1 calls earlier in the day, so it was a bit of an act to juggle them. Not to mention the multiple other calls through the day that had to be dealt with.
It was odd to be so busy like this on a Saturday, but it does happen from time to time.
We managed to handle pretty much everything, so it was a tag team effort

Is it too much to expect regular updates on a house you’ve invested huge amounts of funds into. It would appear as though we probably are. I won’t even begin to mention some of my personal pet hates related to the process to date.
Let’s just say people tell fibs only to bring themselves undone several days later. Not to mention if you have someone indicate they will call you back, you’d hope that they indeed do. Although lately that’s not been the case, so you have to call them back anyways.
I’ll be so happy to have the house be complete then I won’t have to deal with complete idiots on a regular basis.
